Budgeting opportunities
The majority of sponsors that we would attract would focus on people, who either have to be, or want to be up relatively early. For example; people on the commute to work; people who are interested in nutrition, around breakfast time. Generally, the sponsors need to be relevant to what the listeners are more likely to be responsive and interested in at that time of day. No one whos just waking up is going to want to hear adverts about things that just aren’t relevant to them at the time.
Potential sponsors would be smaller local companies that fit well with our target audience; they would advertise their product(s) In a more suited fashion to our audience. For example, a shop that sells toys and bikes would advertise bikes, to suit the commuting listeners. This would also increase the chance that they listened again; they would feel like the show is more suited to them so they would listen more often
City Cycles Centre - Ely
This shop would suit the listening audience at the time our show would be broadcasted at because a large amount of listeners would be commuters. They would be more responsive to the adverts including bikes because that is the sort of product that they would be likely to buy.
City cycles centre in ely sells a wide range of bikes, from high end road bikes to foldable bikes that fit on trains. This means that if listeners did look up the centre they would probably find what they wanted. After responding positively to an advert the listener may be more inclined to listen more frequently as it has already impacted them in a beneficial way.
Paul days ely
This shop would suit a lot of listeners at this time. Over 30,000 people have been known to be recording their runs each week, there are many that aren’t recorded, in the morning in 2016. This number is exponentially rising and is much higher now in 2018. https://www.runnersworld.co.uk/health/2016-in-running-stats
This means that a high percentage of listeners are probable to be runners or people who enjoy sports. Paul days in ely is a sports shop that has a massive variety of sports equipment: Cricket, running, skating, swimming and a lot more. As society is now leaning towards healthier and more sustainable lifestyle, especially our target audience, this shop would be ideal to suit the target market for both the shop and our show.
Hot numbers coffee shop
This coffee shop would be an ideal place to be advertised on out radio show. Most people, commuting, running, or even just trying to relax in the morning will want to stop off at a coffee shop or a drive through to give them some energy for the day. The chilled vibe in there would entice a younger responsive audience, and the live music, style and general aura of the shop would bring an older audience there.
The shop is a popular destination for locals, tourists and travelers. If this shop sponsored us it would mean we both gained customers and listeners. We could reduce the cost of them to sponsor us in order for them to play our music whilst there aren’t live bands. This would result in a much more widespread audience for us, and a lot more publicity for their shop.
Cost
The cost of advertisements on our radio show would depend on how many listeners we got at any one time. Workspace.co.uk says:
“As a rule of thumb, radio advertising is charged at a rate of approximately £2 per thousand listeners at one time. To clarify, if a show has 100,000 listeners at 10am, then buying a 30-second spot at that time will cost you £200. The late show's 10,000 listeners at 11pm would only cost £20.”
